I have often heard the phrase “No Pain, No Gain”. I always wondered why endure pain in order to gain something. Is the thing I want to “gain” worth the pain? I have learned the “pain” may signify actual pain, but often refers to leaving your comfort zone. Our comfort zone is often the lifestyle that works best for us; the one where we do what we want, when we want, and how we want. Our diet consists of all our favorite foods in the quantities we love. Our daily routine is filled with what is convenient and comfortable for us. It has been said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. I have heard many people claim they want to be more physically fit, and they want to get in shape. I look at what they routinely do, I see their idea of getting into shape is simply this: the shape they desire is “round” since round is an actual shape. heir actions drown out their words. Their idea of working out is 20oz curls of their favorite sugary beverages, and their idea of cardio is running to the refrigerator or a thumb workout with a remote control or game controller. Most things are usually okay in moderation, but when the moderation exceeds what the body can take, then health issues occur.
Leading a healthy life style is a matter of choice, and the choice does not mean giving up EVERYTHING you enjoy. There is nothing wrong with having an occasional favorite beverage or food, but moderation is the key. Many times we don’t give our brain to sync with our bodies to tell us we have had enough. The pain to a healthy lifestyle is bearable but simple; get out of the comfort zone. You don’t have to drastically change your lifestyle, all at once, because if you do, it may not last. Cut down your sodas and replace with water or some other healthy alternative. Try to walk a little every day, and slowly increase the distance. Try to arrange your day to get adequate rest. Look for healthy choices that are palatable to you. It may be painful, but just like a pin prick hurts, making the changes in a realistic manner lessens the hurt, makes your comfort zone easier to leave, because you are developing a new paradigm, a new comfort zone, where you actually feel uncomfortable if you don’t get your exercise in, limit your indulges and began to see the actual GAIN from the minimal PAIN! The New Year is only about 180 days away, and usually after the summer ends, New Year resolutions began to consume the forefront of our mind. We didn’t look how we intended this year, so we purpose in our hearts to spend more time working out, eating right, and being healthy. Sometimes this “resolution” is spurred by a dreaded doctor visit, where we are told we have to start taking better care of ourselves. We know we “should”, but there are a lot of things we “should” do. We should clean the house. We should pay our bills. We should spend time with our significant other so they never have to wonder if they are loved and appreciated, but should is not the same thing as must. Until we shift our thinking about fitness from “should” to “must”, we will always have excuses as to why it is not done. We are all given 24 hours every day and how we use that 24 hours is based on our priorities.
We would not take a car and not take care of it, yet hoping it will start when we are ready to go. Why do we fail to give the same attention to our mental and physical health? Periodic maintenance on a car you depend on for transportation, or a house you depend on to live in is not a “should” but a “must”! The same thing goes for fitness; if you want to live a life of purpose on purpose, then you need to make sure your body, mind and soul are operating at peak efficiency for you. Fitness is never a “should”, but always a MUST! Are you ready to start living your life of purpose on purpose? Schedule a Free Discovery call with me today.

You may not be able to grow taller, but you can obtain some washboard abs, toned backside, and get rid of those love handles if you are willing put the work in. Is it worth it, MOST DEFINITELY! There is nothing like being comfortable in your own skin and knowing you are the best version of yourself you can be. Take that first step toward the rest of your life! When you meet with me, I'll show you lots of ways to get physically and mentally fit. Let's meet soon.
Our society has made it easy to eat unhealthy than healthy. It is cheaper to eat a cheeseburger, covered with all kinds of chemicals than to eat an organic salad. Even shopping at the market can be challenging to find food not tainted to make it last longer, look bigger, or even look fresher than it really is. We may sometimes think, what is the point? The whole world seems to be against the idea of living clean? Well it’s hard to make money if people as sick, and what we put into our body fuels our body. We only have one body to live this life in so why not make sure we are putting the right things in so we can enjoy it for as long as we can. It is amazing how there are some people who focus on living as clean as they can look years younger than those who live day to day. Living clean is a choice, a choice that pays off with a visible return of investment; less doctor visits, more energy and more control over what actually goes into your body! Your body will thank you! Tired of having to take multiple antacids, pills, liquids and powders to calm your stomach. What about the aches in pains in your joints, head and body? Take a look at what you are eating versus what your body was designed for you to eat. Many things we ingest were never intended for our body to naturally process. The harder your body works, the more stress it feels. Many things we are told to take, to relieve an ache or pain, can cause more problems than what we originally were trying to resolve. Mother Nature has many remedies; remedies that are clean, which amazingly enough, many man made remedies are designed to mimic. The funny thing is, the natural remedies seldom do anything close to the damage the man made remedies can do to our bodies. The power is yours! Research and ask for herbal alternatives, and try to live clean or continue to play Russian roulette when there might be options available. Nothing ventured, nothing gained…try living clean and start today!
1. Eating clean is often avoided because on the surface it appears to be a drastic change from what is convenient and comfortable. It may take a little more work to find a place that sells food that fits the bill, and a little research to know what exactly you are putting in your body. It’s easier than growing all your food on your own, from seed to a cooked dinner on the table. Ask any farmer. A person, with a little practice and research, will find making “clean” eating choices will become a part of your lifestyle, just like the certain clothing style you prefer. Like martial arts, eating clean is not something you just “do”, it is a way of life.
